Opening Remarks

SESSION 1

  Academia Sinica

  Professor Liaw is a Distinguished Chair Professor of Medicine at Medical College, Chang Gung University, Taipei, Taiwan. After graduation from the College of Medicine National Taiwan University in 1967, he was trained in internal medicine and hepato-gastroenterology there for 6 years. In 1976, he was recruited to be the 1st chairman of the newly opened Chang Gung Memorial Hospital. He was the Director of the Liver Research Unit of Chang Gung Memorial Hospital for 25 years, where he is now a senior Advisor. Professor Liaw has devoted to hepatitis B virus related liver diseases since year 1971, has published >500 papers with a SCI H-index of 98. With these, Liaw has been elected Academician of the Academia Sinica, Taiwan since year 2000. He was granted the 2013 EASL International Recognition Award.
